His smile is a waiting room as lonely as divine
Brings a newborn river from his lips
& the words leak brandy
I refuse to hear them
Eardrums sleep the tantrum
If only my eyes could refuse the sight
His smile is a waiting room
It’s wisdom closed and tight
So much I’ve taken from him
His pearly eyes and his suffering
His measured reason
His discipline
His fofarrow mind & his Cheshire grin

Hush Hush

|

Hush hush, my baby
Hush hush, my darling
Let the soft grey veils of sleep,
Around your fallen body, creep
And from your world of stars and dreams
Stretch out your hands to me
My arms are gonna wake you
My arms are gonna bathe you in the morning dew
Through pallid mists and memories
My dead stars fall in sighing seas
Hush hush, my baby
Darling

Here in the night
The fire burns low
Hours into days into years
And into grey fades ashes go
I try to see your face
But somber is the glow
And slow the fire
That lends its light
To no one's desire
I only feel your eyes
Your eyes know
Your eyes know
I can't look away
I can't let go
Dark in this night
And you again
You're like a ghost
Your holy stare and shadowy hair
Block out the light we cannot share
Oh, the one I love
Oh, the one I love

My Dreams Are Rude

My dreams are rude
I often think of you. Is that the true nature of desire?
My dreams are rude. They draw a circle around you
No, we never stopped growing on one another
And so we go on
We go on like you were never
Poison in my arms, poison in my legs,
Mortal to my heart, venom in my veins.
Now I can feel what I want to
And I can move again.
What if it were true?
That you were a long-armed loving man
And I was the fool for you?
There was no conflict to contend with
I know I can be hateful
I know you can be nasty too
I knew you could be broken
You knew I could be broken too
We were right to walk away
and I won’t try to find you
But my dreams are rude
They still draw a circle around you
And we go on, we go on like you were never
Poison in my arms, poison in my legs,
Mortal to my heart, venom in my veins.
Now I can feel what I want to
And I can move again.

The Two of Us
05:33
|
|||
Alone with grey emotions til invoked by my devotion
How lovely you seemed
How beautiful to me
Too close together
Too far apart
Something alien is coming for us
Something strange is looming all around us
I look at your kingdom, it seems noble enough
Yet I have seen the splendor of your wings
Why did they have to close up?
Open them up for me
Open them up for us
The two of us are settling nowhere
We’re lying like stones grown on a hill
Waiting to be pushed over
only to further sit still still
Between my reservations
Between your preservation
We play a wooden game
Can’t we...how can we begin again?
There are no observers here
Only our minds & only our fears
Does anything ever stand clear?
The two of us are settling nowhere
We’re lying like stones grown on a hill
Waiting to be pushed over
Only to further sit still still

Pond Song

Pond Song ©1999
Frog on top of the dirty black water
sang to the ladybug watching nearby
Song about love, it couldn’t get much hotter
‘til he whipped out his tongue just to taste her die
“My, my,” the ladybug cried,
“Thought he was singing my song”
Sweet & sour did the notes devour
By the midnight hour she was gone.
“Well goodbye, bye,” the frog replied,
“I could have loved you but you gone & died.
Sooner or later you’d have realized:
Something’s gonna get you in the pond at night.”
Witness to this was the poisonous viper
hidden in the reeds so he could spy;
tip of his tail in the dirty black water
glowing like a worm in the moonlit sky.
“My, my,” the frog devised,
“Let me sing you a song.”
Slow and dour did the snake embour
By the twilight froggy was gone
“Well goodbye, bye,” the snake replied,
“You should have listened to your own advice:
Sooner or later you’d have realized:
Something’s gonna get you in the pond at night.”
